Lung cancer research is continuously taking place with interesting directions into new treatments, immunotherapy and hopefully discovering earlier methods of detection and a cure for cancer. Recently I came across a list of current research studies funded by the Cancer Research UK (United Kingdon) a fundraising company. Following is a short list of the articles which are of particular personal interest. Most of them refer to research for non-small cell lung cancer (Adenocarcinoma) but the complete list of current cancer research is under Links.

Current Lung Cancer Research Studies (Partial list)
- A trial looking at inhalers to relieve breathlessness for people with lung cancer
- A study looking at a radioactive tracer that may help to show lung cancer cells on a PET scan
- A study looking at exercise for people with advanced non small cell lung cancer
- A trial looking at olaparib for non small cell lung cancer
- A trial of apatorsen and chemotherapy for non small cell lung cancer that has spread
- A study looking at an MRI scan to diagnose non small cell lung cancer
- A study looking at ways to diagnose lung cancer earlier (Study 2)
- A trial looking at afatinib for non small cell lung cancer which targets protein EGFR
- A study looking at a blood test for early stage non small cell lung cancer
- A trial looking at ceritinib for people with advanced non-small cell lung cancer
- A trial looking at pembrolizumab and chemotherapy for non small cell lung cancer
- Can Aspirin stop cancer coming back after treatment
It is important that organizations like Cancer Research UK and medical researchers continue these potentially life altering research studies. Early detection of lung cancer is a life changer for those fortunate enough to be diagnosed.
