Time. Like the Wind.

Time. Like the Wind.

October 29, 2010 by Liz

Time  and choices . . . . A personal note . . . .

If I only had time
Only time
So much to do
If I only had time
If I only had time
Dreams to pursue
If I only had time
They’d be mine
Time like the wind
Those are hurrying by
And the hours just fly
Where to begin?
There are mountains I’d climb
If I’d time

Denali – Mt. McKinley

Never Enough Time

The pace of “Life” today seems to be travelling (and sometimes unravelling) at the speed of light and there never seems to “be enough time” to do all the things in life we would like to. For me, that comes down to personal choices as we all make time for the people and things in Life who are important to us.

Focus on the Important

Family is so important to me and a few valuable lessons which have been re-emphasized to me during the past three years is :

~ Firstly, take (or make!) time to be with family (and friends) you love – even a short time if that is all you have. A little time is better than absolutely none at all. A moment to hold a hand and to say “I love you”.

~ Secondly, and this is more the mundane and it is one of the reasons this blog started. It is so important to keep a chronological “log” of what happens medically in you (or your loved ones) life, such as : when, where, what, how and perhaps finally a why! This will take so much stress out of your life when everything is documented.

~ Finally, I am not suggesting reckless abandon, but if there is truly something in your life you wish to do, move it to the top of your “To Do” list and see if it is viable. Mark Twain, to my mind, really said it best :

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed
by the things that you didn’t do
than by the ones you did.
So, throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.

Explore. Dream. Discover.

Mark Twain(1835 – 1910)

Out to Sea !

You rarely get a second chance! And, closing on a personal note, my father always said :

If I can right some brother led astray
Or lighten some sad heart
Let me do so today
For I shall never pass this way again”

……..Anon

I hope this note has encouraged you. Enjoy each day and be happy!

Notes

The words of the introductory song are lyrics written and performed by John Rowles – my New Zealand heart throb of the 1960’s!
