How to Start your Baby with Pasta

Here is Baby Recipe #2. Caramel and Parsley is all about helping prevent disease by eating a wholesome, nutritious diet and living a healthy Lifestyle and what better way to give your child a head start. Here is another super simple baby (one year plus) recipe idea for the busy caregiver for maximum food benefit.  

Preservative Free Pasta Sauce Ingredients

  • ½ Onion – chopped
  • Two Medium sized carrots – diced
  • ½ Pepper (colour of your choice) – chopped
  • 5 or 6 Organic mushrooms (Crimini is a good choice) – sliced
  • 1 or 2 Garlic cloves to taste – crushed
  • One Tomato (optional) – chopped

Directions

Saute the above ingredients in a little olive oil in a medium-sized pot, until cooked and then add:

  1. One cup Water
  2. ½ cup Red Lentils *
  3. ½ Teaspoon Basil dried
  4. ½ Teaspoon Oregano dried

Bring to boil and simmer until lentils are cooked, about twenty minutes. Let cool and puree with a blender. This is your finished pasta sauce.

Pasta Options

(non wheat, no additives) – substitute any of the following :

  • Whole grain pasta only
  • Brown rice
  • Kamut
  • Quinoa
  • Prepare per package instructions

To serve pasta

Sprinkle with grated goat mozzarella cheese or Parmesan cheese

This is a highly nutritious meal for your child, complete with “every food group”.

An excellent lunch or dinner.
