Ideas to Enjoy the Christmas Season

Ideas to Enjoy the Christmas Season

November 30, 2013 by Liz Gardner

Christmas is coming. Fresh snow is glistening on the local mountains and the bells are ringing on the Salvation Army donation kettles. Seasonal carols are playing in the malls. It’s not yet the end of November and it seems early to prepare for the holiday Season. Here are a few reminders from years gone by on how to have a fun, relaxed celebration and enjoy  “the most wonderful time of the year”.

Seasonal Baking :

  • Following my advice I start with the easiest first – my mum’s favourite “Rum Balls” which can be frozen if made in advance  – no baking
  • Second, a batch (or two) of very enjoyable Snicker Doodles are baked, these too can be frozen
  • Easy homemade Chocolate Treats  are still a great gift giving idea

All these recipes have loads of butter and sugar – so parental restraint may be required – for the children of course!

Christmas Gift giving

  • Christmas is Coming – more ideas for gift giving
  • For those who cannot be with loved ones during the holiday season – some long distance “giving” ideas
  • And finally, the ever popular Christmas gift basket

This is a wonderful time of year to spend with family, friends and those you love;  keep it simple and enjoy moments shared. Again …. Seasons Greetings to you all.

A gift basket can be any size .. or content

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas,
Soon the bells will start,
And the thing that will make them ring is the carol that you sing,
Right within your heart
