Sugar Equivalent Infographics

Sugar Equivalent Infographics

January 6, 2021 by Liz Gardner

Sugar Equivalent Infograpics are very helpful when baking, losing weight, family health and when writing an article on sugar and food. Simply it is good to know how much sugar is in your food especially if you have diabetes. The graphics were originally endorsed by NICE in the United Kingdom and then disappeared.

For those who use these graphics often, it is with special thanks to Dr. David Unwin (@lowcarbGP) and others who created these simple to understand graphics … and to share these excellent resources with you.

People look at me quite incredulously when I tell them that there are now many parts of the world where the average person – man, woman, and child – is eating more than 100 pounds of sugar a year – 2 pounds or more a week. (Pg 41) (1972)

Hope you found these infographics as useful and informative as I have. If you go to the Public Health Collaboration site you should be able to access more graphics and other valuable information on added sugar and diabetes. The graphics have been translated into several other languages such as Spanish, Japanese, Kurdish and others.

Thanks again to Dr David Unwin from many of us who use this helpful information often. Best wishes as you continue in 2021

If only a small fraction of what is already known about the effects of sugar were to be revealed in relation to any other material used as a food additive, that material would promptly be banned. (Pg 3)

Closing quote from John Yudkin :
Avoid sugar, I say, and you are less likely to become fat, run into nutritional deficiency, have a heart attack, get diabetes or dental decay or a duodenal ulcer, and perhaps you also reduce your chances of getting gout, dermatitis and some forms of cancer, and in general increase your life span
