In January 2015 I posted an article on a few changes to my website and Twitter, namely that I would be posting and tweeting articles during the year that I thought relevant to climate change and our environment. I have been amazed at the positive response this has received which encourages me to continue this practice through this coming year so #Climate2016 continues ...

In retrospect climate news in 2015 for British Columbia, along with most of the West Coast of the USA, unfortunately included many "firsts" including record-breaking high temperatures, heat waves, lack of rain causing droughts, water shortages, air quality alerts and devastating forest fires. In addition there were many small earthquakes in our region and an unprecedented summer wind storm with extensive power outages.

The unusual weather has continued into December. Heavy rains and very high winds have caused widespread damage and power outages throughout the Lower Mainland of B.C. and on Vancouver Island. This weather has been attributed to the effects of El Nino on the Pacific Northwest coast. Current status and predictions of El Nino.

All these events have had a negative impact often with dire consequences for human life, health, homes and businesses, environment and wildlife. As more people become aware of climate change issues and are learning what is happening to our global home including what we can do about it individually and collectively - it is hoped positive changes will take place to offset climate change.

Please join me in spreading awareness
of climate change and global warming
and encourage others to make a positive change ...
for the sake of our grandchildren and the future of our world.
