Good News - CT Scan Results

It is that time of year again - year 4 lung cancer CT Scan. It has been the most happy week with the results being:

"Stable - no calcification - no pleural fluid"

Absolutely the best news we could have received!  The next scan, Year 5, in one year.

    Thankful

There is so much to be thankful for starting with how wonderful it is to be able to take a deep breath and taste the fresh air. I am extremely grateful for so much that has been squeezed into the last 8 years since having breast cancer surgery ... such as:

    • The birth of our first grandchild after breast cancer surgery and treatment in 2008
    • The birth of our second grandchild after lung cancer surgery 4 years later
    • The past few years spent with our children and family - with laughter, love and tears of joy - a little silliness in life to warm the heart and soul
    • Nothing compares with hearing your grandchild say "I love you Nana"
    • Some incredibly "down" days that make the laughter special
    • The medical care I have received the last few years has been excellent and timely - words cannot express my gratitude
    • There is much we take for granted; our homes, province, the country we live in and perhaps the mundane that we would certainly notice and miss if it was not there

    Hopeful

    Hope gives us fresh energy
    Hope lifts our spirits
    Hope keeps us going
Hope helps us persevere beyond the pain
    Hope reminds us
    we're not alone ..
    we'll make it

Every day is a Gift - enjoy Life

There are so many other simple, day-to-day past times we enjoy, perhaps a coffee with a friend, receiving an unexpected phone call from someone you are happy to hear from, a gesture of kindness, a helping hand, an ear to listen and a heart to care. We are so fortunate to have the time to travel and learn and of course what is Life without a vegetable garden and a good book to read!

Simply being here to enjoy the splendor of God's creation; to hear the waves crashing on the shore, watch the flight of a heron, hear the sound of children's laughter and so much more in every moment of the day.  These years hold precious memories which I cherish.

It is good to focus on the good things in Life and not to dwell on "what ifs" and "whys" but on the many other experiences to share, learn and love in Life. As I watch the sun rise I am grateful for another day. Enjoy what you have to the fullest. Share your good news with others.

Thank you to my family and friends, both here  and overseas, for their never-ending care, support and prayers.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all it's sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Be careful. Strive to be happy.
